I'm trying to use the text 'flow into frame' feature, however, the text just seems to disappear (please see attached video). Any suggestions as to how to correct this? Thanks-
Thanks for your reply- Tried again with scaled down text and, although the text does move into the frame, it doesn't 'flow' into it- Please see attached!
Got it- I just click+type- I did scale down the size of the text and it went into the frame as it does in your example (thank you!) but, similar to your example, the text doesn't 'flow into frame' and distort itself to assume the general shape of the frame, the text just stays as it regularly is...
Thanks very much for the video- What I'm trying to accomplish is a single word that takes the shape of a frame (please see attached example)- I thought Text > Flow into Frame would accomplish this for a single word, however, it does not do it. Is there another command/sequence of events I should be using? Thanks!
Alright, thanks... Just to confirm, does Inkscape not offer the tool I'm looking for that will allow a single text word to assume the shape of a frame? I completed the last example in adobe illustrator and assumed Inkscape offered a similar feature-
Hi there,

Seems the text is too large in first place to be displayed inside the ellipse. Scale it down - let it flow into frame scale text then.

I tried with a star object and reasonable sized text objectΒ and it works. How do you generate the text object?
I generated the text object simply by typing it- it's still in text format, I haven't converted it to a path or anything-
Β
I meant if it's already "flowed text" by drawing a frame with the Text tool or just click+type?
Scale is crucial methinks:

Yes - but it should move with it when frame is moved.
Yes, but how do I get the text to take the shape of the frame, to 'flow' into it?
Flowed text will break the lines between words, so paragraphs will fill the shape(s).

Maybe you are interested in styling text in another way:
This requires converting the text to paths and editing the paths.

In this case you might want to check out envelope deformation:Β http://tavmjong.free.fr/INKSCAPE/MANUAL/html/Paths-LivePathEffects-EnvelopeDeformation.html

No such feature, but you can request one.Β Β https://inkscape.org/forums/beyond/how-to-report-bugs-or-request-new-features/
