I have used inkscape in past but I am certainly a novice. I am adding layers , but when I shut eye on that layer , it still shows! I dont know what I am doing wrong. I am sure i must have clicked on something cause it was working last week. I did notice when I open the subfiles and sometimes can find it in there, but again when I close the eye(sorry there is a more technical word I am sure) for that whole layer , it still shows. I hope I explained this right.
A very stupid question: Are you sure that your target objects you want to hide are actually members of that layer, and not just siblings right beneath it? That happens easier than you might guess, if you're not that used to the indentation.
Otherwise, this sounds very weird. Can you reproduce this issue in a project you're comfortable with sharing? If so, please upload it, I'd actually love to see that bug myself too.
I thought this was a forum for beginners. To be told my question is stupid is very offensive.
I did figure it out thank you. What a great experience I have had on inkscape beginners forum. Guess I will find my answers elsewhere. As a beginner no question should be called stupid.
I believe that @blvckbytes did not mean to describe YOR's question was stupid. Rather, it was poor phrasing, trying to describe their own reply as a "stupid question".
Better phrasing would have been: "I have a stupid question...". Even better phrasing would have been for @blvckbytes to ask the question directly.

Ouch, I'm sorry that the semantics of what I wrote were *that* ambiguous! When I wrote that sentence I thought it was perfectly clear, but now - later on - I have to cringe at it myself. Of course I ment that my own question was stupid. That's a - kind of - saying we use in the german language, doesn't port well to english. I would never say that *any* question is stupid, that's just not something I believe in at all.
