Hello. The filling colours won't work, it's always grey. If I for example select green for my object it's still grey but the shade of grey varies if I select a darker green. I already checked if I have the newest version of Inkscape which I do. The opacity is also on 100%. Could it be some other setting? I'm not sure what could be wrong and attached a screenshot. I would really appreciate any help :)
I have the same problem. The filling colours won't work today. Everything worked perfectly yesterday. I was able to change fonts and fill the text with various colors and gradinets. The stroke features worked perfectly. I exported objects without in various file formats without any issues.
However, today, I opened the files just to see only black text. The original SVG files still show the colour. I did reinstall Inkscape and restart my laptop, but it did not work. I could see the colour wheel, the opacity is 100%, all objects are in the layer 1, but the colour will not "apply".
Please advise. Your help will be highly appreciated:)

At first I'd reset Inkscape's Preferences, restart Inkscape and check if the issue persists.

Maybe you accidentally entered the grey display mode [View > Grey Scale] or [alt+5].
It wasn't the grey display mode, but the display mode was set to "outline" 🤣 I returned it to "normal" and everything worked perfectly 🙂
