Beginners' Questions Filling an area 'transparent'

    My page is transparent.

So how do I fill areas withing

the pictures I have to be also transparent.? They come as imported vectors with crap I need to get rid of. I have created a border and grouped them so they are one object. But cannot work out a way of changing the fill.

I have tried making them white (the next best option) using the bucket, but for some reason it puts grey in the space. Cannot I just 'no fill' a selected area? Or use the bucket to no fill it?

    Thanks

hi Redrob58.  Welcome to the forum.  If I understand you correctly (and I may not), you want to have a background under your objects so it's not transparent.  The easiest way is to use the rectangle tool and create a rectangle/square the same size as you page bounding box.  Then select it and use the Fill N Stroke box to select a color (or can use the pallette tool).  You can choose any color you want.

Sounds like you did create a white box, but used the fill bucket vs the fill n stroke menu.  I think you'll find you have better results with the fill n stroke menu.  (the bucket fill has it's use for specific things, but a straight forward rectangle is best with the fill n stroke or using the pallette.

Please ask if you have any further questions, there are others here who can explain things a lot better than me!

    Hello Redrob58,

The no fill is the red cross on the left of your paletbar. Is that what you want?
Just select your path and click on the red cross for filling without colour.

I''ll have to be honest.  I don't clearly understand the question.  If none of these answers help, please clarify your question.

Also, it sounds like we'll probably need to see the SVG file.  So please share that, if you can.

I suggest reviewing the Tutorials section of the Help menu. The Basic tutorial covers most of these questions.
