I need help, please:

I’m struggling to work with the layers panel. Every time I select an group item it expands if it contains sub-objects. If the layer ie. contains numerous shapes the list expands massively beyond the window and hide other layers totally. One have to scroll the list for overview or collapse constantly using the little arrow (please see gif).

It's very tiresome and utterly consuming to create a bit complicated artworks working in this way. Is there an option to avoid the above mentioned problem? Have I missed something in the preferences or is there a string/script which can be altered? In both cases: How?

Click the icon in the top left corner of your screenshot [Switch to layers only view] to show only the layers, hiding all other objects.

I often have wondered the basic idea and usefulness of exactly that switch since it make the list myststeriously disappear when the latter is composed of layers too!
Still Cannot figure out the very thoughts behind the overall layer list functionality compared to other art programmes.

Hi Mikael,

   feel your pain. Being trying to get use to the layer chaos myself. I see their reasoning but its not practical in use. See how the updates go.

  Its also to hard to know what is were. Hidding the unlocked layers makes it look cool but confuses me even more.

This is core technology, if they can pull this off you will have a layer window that gives you so much power you wont be able to live without it.
