Beginners' Questions Error when trying to use a custom SVG font in Hershey Text extension

Has anyone had issues with using a custom SVG font in the Hershey Text extension?  I made my own single stroke SVG font in Inkscape and it works using FontLab Pad, but if I try to use the Hershey Text extension I get this error:

Error parsing SVG font at [location\name]
Warning: unable to load SVG stroke fonts.

Did I do something wrong in creating my SVG font? I've tried multiple times, created three (from scratch) single stroke SVG fonts in Inkscape, and two out of three give me that error.  And sometimes the one that did work will stop working and give me the "Warning: unable to load SVG stroke fonts." error only. If I reinstall Inkscape it works again.  The other two never work.

I used these instructions on how to create the SVG font in Inkscape: https://inkscape-manuals.readthedocs.io/en/latest/creating-custom-fonts.html

Is there something else I'm supposed to do to "finalize" my font before using it in Hershey Text?

I have had issues, yes. You could read about what solved those issues on my blog. I would also strongly recommend to use the custom stroke font extension to create fonts more effectively than explained in the link you gave.
