Beginners' Questions Empty .eps files

    Hi everybody!

I have a problem with empty .eps files. It happened from time to time before but recently it became more often and overwhelming. I download a picture from freepik, I see that in .jpg it looks fine but in .eps there's nothing. I open it, Inkscape doesn't show me any error and just opens a file with nothing inside. I used to think it was a problem with certain files as it happened from time to time but today I tried to download many different pictures and basically all of them were useless for me. I asked my colleague to check one of those files on his computer. And on his computer  Inkscape showed some error but at the same time it opened a file!

Now, I also had this problem on my computer back at home. What those two computers have in common are: they both have win7, the newest version of Inkscape is installed on both of them. My colleague's computer works on win10 and has some older version of Inkscape. Do you think that may be the case? Does the operation system have that impact on Inkscape? Or maybe it's a problem with an Inkscape version? But I'm not sure why the older one would work better than the newest. And, what is the most important, how do I fix it?

It depends, sometimes eps files simply contain bitmap data.

Feel free to share an example file for evaluation.

I'm not sure how many of you here have an access to freepik pics but here are couple of examples which contained empty files in my case:

No problem here using the latest Inkscape under Linux , or an earlier version on Win.

Please describe the installer used for Inkscape (exe, msi, zip).

If you can attach a file you have downloaded, that could help.

I used exe. I uninstalled Inkscape today and installed it again. It didn't help. I download it from here: https://inkscape.org/release/1.0.1/windows/64-bit/ I also checked zip version but it didn't help neither. I thought that maybe I installed the wrong version (64-bit on a 32-bit computer) but no, it's a good one. So, that's not the source of the problem.

    Anybody got any idea?

Could be the files are getting corrupted.

If you share/attach an eps file that has the issue for you, it could help.
