I was using Inkscape today to try and create a circular pattern (speedometer/gauge), but when I went to use the ellipse tool I was having some trouble. First, the circle did not show up at all, despite things such as opacity being at 100%. When I tried it again a few minutes later, it created one small circle and another giant circle, neither of which could be edited. Now, it is making strange diagonal lines and shapes and I don't know what the problem is. I've had Inkscape for basically four days and haven't changed any preferences or anything. I've tried restarting the program, new documents, restarting my computer, and resetting default preferences, and none of them have solved the issue. I would greatly appreciate any help with this issue. Attached is an image of one of the many shapes (none of which a circle/ellipse) that the ellipse tool is now making.
You've probably messed up using the slicing tools. You can fix that issue by pressing the button to make the circle whole again. Here are some screenshots for guidance.
