Hi, I have created this drawing on SolidEdge 2d cad and saved it in exported DXF format. Autodesk Viewer and Corel Draw open the file but Inkscape gives a lot of error messages.
There are a number of ways lasers are driven... some are like CNC machines, some are like document printers, some have proprietary software.
CAD generally speaking has origin references, since most cad systems use Cartesian coordinates. The origin may or may not be visible in an exchange file e.g. dxf.

Can somebody help? I have attached a sample file.
Works in 1.3 beta.
https://inkscape.org/release/inkscape-1.3beta0/
Works in 0.92.5 Windows
JFYI, it's the entire technical drawing, not just the part geometry.
Failed to import in v.1.2.2
Inkscape 1.2.2 (1:1.2.2+202212051552+b0a8486541)
Inkscape pukes on the drawing elements, the part paths open ok.

Thanks to everyone. I went along with the 1.3 beta and it worked.
I am new andΒ I have a general question. Why laser cutting doesn't use the parametric cad files straight and cad doesn't have originΒ
settings?
