    Hello,

    I'm pretty new to this. I want to remove a rectangle from the pattern shown in the screenshot. The desired output would be what is on the left, but as one path, if that makes sense. What would be the best way to do this? I've tried all the path operations, moving the paths up and down in relation to each other, and a bunch of other stuff I don't even remember.

    Hi Fatgeek,

    I'm not sure if you've opened an SVG or imported this from Raster image.

    I'll take a shot in the dark here. But if it's a miss you'll have to provide more than a screenshot for me to help.

    Generally I'd follow this workflow remove bits and combine a path:

    • Select everything and Right Click => Ungroup
    • Select the white box (which you want to remove)
    • Press Delete
    • Select Everything that is left (Ctrl + A)
    • Path (menu) => Combine

    That should get you to where you want to be unless you've dragged an image into Inkscape.

    May I suggest some tutorials that will help you get your feet wet in a short time.

    Would be helpful to share an example svg file.
