I need to create a 4mm grid of 0.6mm dots ideally at a 45 degree angle.
I have been able to change the grid lines to be 4mm but I can't seem to get dots to snap to the grid if I duplicate them. I have the snap to grid property on and it works if I place the dots individually. Is there any way to do this without creating them individually?
Here's a screenshot showing a possible method. The dot is 0.6mm diameter centred in a 4mm square and grouped together. Create tiled clones in a 20x20 grid. Columns are shifted by 50% and alternated. Finally delete the square from the original group.

I'd use tiled clones to make the array then group and rotate.

Thank you for your help. I didn't even know where to start.
