I'm new to Inkscape and have been using it for around a week now. The file I am trying to make some changes to will open and I can move throughout the layers and add things as long I'm in a layer already create. If I try to add a new layer or try to move things to another layer I get an error saying "Inkscape encountered an internal error and will close now, or it just closes with no warning. In the file I have imported a png file of something I made using adobe illustrator and I'm using a downloaded font called Yukarimobile (which I done object to path), everything else is shapes I created within Inkscape. I'm using a bran new computer with windows 11 and using the newest version, Inkscape 1.2.2 (732a01da63, 2022-12-09). I downloaded Inkscape via the Inkscape website. I'm also using dual monitors.

I'm not sure what to do to fix the issue other than just starting over from scratch just to add a black background to my logo. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I have also attached a screenshot and the .svg file.

This is the dbug Info although I'm not sure what it is lol.

I got instant crashes by just selecting the last Path in the list activating the Node tool on macOS. I opened it in Affinity Designer and just exported as SVG again. It arranged the parts in a different way, but it´s no longer crashing here. Looking at it in a Text editor it seemed to be as saved as a Plain SVG. In the short amount of time I have no chance to figure what went wrong in first place - but I hope you´re up+running with the "converted" version:

@Polygon Thank you for the comment. I was able to keep it from crashing. I don't know why but when Inkscape first opens it gives you the prompt to open one of your recent files and that's how I was trying to edit. By going to my files, right click and click open using Inkscape it allowed me to edit with no crashing. This is a strange bug, but I'm glad I found a work around and maybe others can try doing the same when they have a crash trying to edit a file.

It seems that path36075 in the svg root ( not in a layer ) has path effect path-effect36078

In Edit>XML Editor if you navigate to <defs> expand it and delete path-effect36078 then the problem goes away.

    I don't know why.

@inklinea thank you for the reply. I am able to edit it with no problem when I go to open the file from the load option at the bottom of up pop up that opens before Inkscape starts. When I open it using recent files I can't edit anything. Its a strange bug, but I know know to just load the file rather than selecting the recent files option.
