Is it possible to convert an .eps file and if so, how is it done

Have you already tried to open the EPS with Inkscape?

I have, yes, and get an error stating 'Failed to load the requested file.....'
 

Will you tell us sometime which operating system you use and which Inkscape version?

I use a Windows laptop running Windows 10 Pro and the version of Inkscape is 0.92

Seems you need to install GhostScript to load/open EPS files with Inkscape.

I have installed version 1.1 and GhostScript but am getting the same error.

Is there configuration I need to do on Inskape in order for GhostSript to work?

I can´t tell as it´s not necessary on macOS and not available afaik. Have you restart your computer already?
