Beginners' Questions Commands not highlighted

    Hello

    I am a beginner so please bare with me :)) 

    I am trying to get a font thicker using the outset command. Here are the steps I took:

    I typed a word

    Selected it

    Opened Path tab

    but none of the commands are highlighted as you can see on the attached screenshot. What am i missing? I am working with Windows 10, 64 bit.
