    I'm trying to use the chrome filter, but it is not displaying how it should. In fact, many of the filters are not displaying properly. This is what happens when I apply the chrome filter. Any idea why this is happening?

    How it "should" is a vague term when it comes to filters. Since the built in filters were introduced years ago the renderer was changed from webkit (?) to cairo and the resolution from 90 to 96 dpi.

    The filter effect seems to be using blurring and maybe a diffuse filter primitive too by the looks.

    The object's shape and its proportions can alter the rendering.

    With the filter editor you can tweak the filter's blurring radius once it is applied on an object.

    At the point you know how to tweak those settings you can probably create better filters from scratch so it's hard to suggest a specific solution.

    Using filters is usually put aside for various reasons. Would take alot of reconsideration both from the svg workgroup and from the inkscape project.

    A quick and ugly hack would be by playing with the scale factor manually.

    Putting the text into a group, applying the filter on the group;

    entering the group and scaling the text up inside. Then maybe group the filtered group and scale that second group down.

    I was trying to follow a tutorial, but my filter wasn't doing what there's was. I think I'll just have to find another way to create the effect I'm looking for. Thanks.

    🆒

    I made just minor adjustments at Gaussian Blur and Displacement Map. Check out file please:
