I have relatively poor vision. I'm new to Inkscape and was happy to see that its icon sizes can be adjusted.
The one downside I've seen in 1.2-dev however is that not only can you not adjust the size of icons in dialogs/panels(from what I can tell), but the icons are actually significantly smaller than in 1.1.1. See my attached image for comparison.
The icon size settings in Preferences > Interface > Toolbars don't seem to have any effect on icons in dialogs/panels.
Does anyone know how to increase icon sizes in dialogs/panels in 1.2-dev?
3) then under INTERFACE, go to the second one down is TOOLBARS, in that area you will see at the bottom "TOOLBOX ICON SIZE" by adjusting that, you will receive some relief...
The icons on the right side of the main form can be resized by moving the "Control bar icon size" slider to the right. This control may be off the bottom of the Preferences dialog box until you drag it taller.
Here is Inkscape on my dual monitor 4K display (3840 x 2160 & 3840 x 2160) using 150% scaling in Windows 11 using "stock" icon settings. They look even worse on my monitors than they do here:
Now, here is Inkscape using 300% settings of both the left and right icon columns:
Look closely at the About box above. Maybe the icon scaling bug was fixed in this version (v1.2.2)?
Yeah. Can't change size of icons within the panel with old version either, BUT they were larger before. Even changing themes did not help. Good eyes and steady hands are a must now because new ones are clumsily small. I align A LOT so eye strain and many undo's were a game-changer. I appreciated all IS has done, but they are being stubborn/blind on this and I'll do what's best for me --and my eyes. ;o)
Installed 1.3 and used David Palmer's workaround: https://gitlab.com/inkscape/inkscape/-/issues/4165#note_1318227204 and perfect! To be honest, I didn't check before I did the workaround -was too excited to see it could be fixed. I had rolled back to old version so am really glad to be up to date.

Same problem, if you haven't solved it yet, try:
1) EDIT....
2) at the bottom is PREFERENCES....

the problem was not resolved the problem is that the option to adjust the size of the secondary icons is gone
Agree with Oliver and Peter; new icons are smaller and harder to see at a glance. Would be great if we could resize sub menu icons as well. Possible?
Did anyone figure this out yet? I enlarged the icons in the toolbar but what about the icons in the panel on the right hand side?
Same problem here. The icons in the right dialog panel are extremely small on 4K display. Couldn't find option to enlarge those... :(
Give up. Went back to 1.1 :o( Old eyes just couldn't do it anymore.

@Kevin McCoy Doesn't work with the side panels icon size! Thant's the problem. Did you even try it with align and distribute panel opened?
Not possible because it´s hard-coded; info from developer.

In answer to the Align panel affecting the right hand icons... Nope, I don't see that:
So nothing is fixed! You have the same microscopic icons in the align and distribute panel. There is no option to scale them properly.
