I can type here without issue, and I can paste text using the text tool but as soon as I attempt to type something, Inkscape thinks I'm asking for a keyboard short cut.  Eg I type the letter A and it switches to the spraypaint tool.  

I'm brand new to this so suspect it's a setting.  I've googled it and checked forums without luck.

Typically, after choosing the Text tool, a single click in the workspace will allow typing of text.

Same problem.  It's as if the keyboard is stuck in Shortcut mode.

select the text tool

single click on the page l

I do get a blinking cursor

i type the letter a

it changes to the spray paint tool immediately 

I’ve tried a reboot and same results.  

I uninstalled and reinstalled the program.  The only thing I noticed is on new install it asks some question about what keyboard you’re using.  I doubt I changed it but maybe that was the problem.   I have default selected now.  No issues.

Same problem if I use the developed version 1.2, so I reinstall the stable version. I really want to use the multi-page updates of the developed version. I hope this can be solved quickly.

This is a known issue in the Windows version of Inkscape 1.2alpha0.
