Number 37 in the screen recording is a single text object, typed in the same fashion as they would be in this sentence. Note the single bounding box around the 37 and the single text anchor at its baseline.
re your observation in comment #5... ensure the option "Move/align selection as group" is not active.
what i did:
selected text tool
placed the cross on what I thought was an appropriate place.
repeated the above until i had x many spaced numbers
observation:ย they were no on the same baseline
fix effort:
created a straight line with bezier tool. selected path->object to path
selected both the straight line as well as the entire sequence of numbers. tried selection by using shift key as well as using select tool
selected text->put on path
nothing happens.
please help
ย
The Align dialog (Ctrl+Shift+A) has text alignment tools.
Thank you for responding, Tyler.
i did try the align tools.
ย ย ย ย I created a line object.
ย ย ย ย selected both line object and entire string of numbers
ย ย ย then clicked on the appropriate align tool
FAILED.
PS
Perhaps i do not understand if a line is a path or object. and it might make a difference with the align tool
Maybe this:
ย
an observation
when i try the align tool the entire string moves, not the individual numbers within the string.
Hi Tyler!
Thank you for all your effort.
Lets look at your example.ย It works for me.
BUT
lets now assume the three and the seven in YOUR "37" are uneven vertically:: the 3 is not on the same baseline as the 7
as inย YOUR example, inkscape is treating the 37 as a single group. hence aligning is done to the entire group of 37 not the
3 or 7
