Returning to use after long absence [W764] I can't do this most basic. When I draw it, clicking anywhere on the page, inside or outside it, causes it to disappear. Clicking on the selection tool means when I go back to the document and move the mouse in it a new rectangle is drawn. Did I forget something basic, or is my program corrupted? I do not have this problem with text object or a drawn line (at least).
Thanks Poly but I found problem was opacity at zero in lower left corner -?- easily fixed. I don't know how that happened since I never use it. One errant click?

Before proceeding please go Inkscape->Preferences->System->Reset Preferences and restart Inkscape. Fingers crossed.

Maybe this happened after updating Inkscape - though a reset of Inkscape´s Preferences would have solved it either - I guess. 😁
