I use an appimage for Inkscape 1.0 on Fedora 32 and Kubuntu 20.04 successfully on this laptop. When I try to use it on OpenSUSE Leap 15.2 Plasma it does nothing. If I switch the session to OpenSUSE Leap 15.2 Plasma (Wayland), then it does work, but Wayland is way too buggy to use. I have also tried the latest appimage for Inkscape 1.0.1, with the same effect. Is this possibly a bug?
It's working now. On a fresh install of openSUSE Leap 15.2 the appimage would not start during the regular Plasma session. Then of course the appimage started when I switched to the Plasma (Wayland) session. Then just for fun I tried to start the appimage in the regular Plasma session, and suddenly it worked. This happened on my laptop and on my desktop PC. For me the issue is solved, but it's still a bit strange.

Sounds like it. You can see if it's reported here: https://gitlab.com/inkscape/inbox/-/issues.
