Inkscape Noob here. I've got an SVG file that I want to import into FreeCad. I can import it, but it's importing with a fill. I've turned off the fill and have the stroke set to 1 pt.

I just want it to import the edges, and not bring in the fill. Any and all advice is welcome.
Kind of. But more like this. Once I import it I can add the bridges and handles where I want. Perhaps stencil isn't the best word, but more of a combination stamp/stencil where I can fill each area with a different color of paint.

Not sure if this will work for you. Fill color opacity was set to 0 instead of 100:

Please describe in greater detail how you want to use the design.
The design will be print on a 3D printer and used as a stencil for painting.
Then I guess you´ll need something like this with some supporting bridges:
