Hi all! I just recently got the brother PE535 and was very excited to embroider with my own designs, so I downloaded inkscape and inkstitch. I have watched and followed multiple tutorials on youtube step by step, and I know how to convert a .png file to a .pes that can be recognized by my machine, but still, no matter what size I set the design to, it says it is too large for the embroidery hoop. For reference, I have the 4"x4" hoop, and from what I read online so far, my machine can handle designs that are 3.93"x3.93" or smaller, so I have been sizing my designs accordingly using File > Document Properties. I am also making sure as I'm doing it that it is set to inches, because I am in the United States and that is what I am familiar with. I don't understand what I'm doing wrong, does the file actually download to the size that I set it to using document properties, or is there some sort of math I can do to get it to the size that I want? So far, I really like this software otherwise, but I could not find anything else on the issue so far.

    Computer OS: Windows

    Inkscape install date: 12/25/2023

    Version of inkscape: 1.3.2 (091e20e, 2023-11-25, custom)

    File type: .png > .pes

    Embroidery machine: PE53

Ink/Stitch doesn't care about the actual document size. The design size solely depends on thee size of the visible elements in your document. So you need to make sure the design fits on the page in your original element.

You can also reopen your pes in Inkscape. Then you can see the actual size it has been exported to.

did you find a solution? I faced the same thing. I see that the file is saved and in the preview I can see that the same design appears next to my design. Because of this, the working field doubles. I can't solve this problem

This is an example of the file after saving. although if you open it, only one picture is visible. but I can't load it because the field size is big

The one on the side is probably the stitch plan preview. You can simply delete it.

When it is not selectable, go to Objects > Layers and Objects... and select the stitch plan layer in there and delete it before you export to PES.

The Layers and Objects dialog is a handy tool to keep an eye on all elements in your document.
