    Greetings!

I am new to Inkscape, and new laser cutting, but here I am.

I have this PDF file of an item I want to cut with a laser.  My laser UI requires a cut line (lets say its has to be RED) be separate from my etch lines (black).  I want to cut the outside edges of the heart file (attached), whilst at the same time, I will be etching all of the interior.  The attached jpg shows what it will look like when I am done.

I have spent 4 hours now trying to figure out how to trace the OUTSIDE edge of this PDF image, but Inkscape wants to treat the letters on the interior as part of the exterior.  This means it will CUT the all the letters, and I only want the exterior of the pattern cut.  I have tried tracing manually, but since the exterior is rounded, and the trace tool only does straight lines, I am failing at that too.

    Help?

    Love Heart
