I have several SVG's that I have designed to sell. I would like to include DXF file formats as well. I know that I can save the file as a .DXF in inkscape--my question is- if i just save the SVG as a DXF will the file actually open and work as it should, or do I need to make alterations to the original file before saving it as a DXF? hope this makes sense!!
Maybe this blog post might be informative. My experience is that how you prepare your file and the settings you choose for the DXF export might have great impact on the resulting DXF file. (depending on the complexity of the design). You should have a one or two softwares to open your DXF file in for proof testing before offering the file for sale.
In my experience, the "Join lines into polylines" setting in Silhouette Studio - Preferences - Import may distort files. The setting is available for GSD, SVG and DXF. DXF exported from CorelDraw works fine with "Join lines into polylines" disabled in Silhouette Studio.

@Aero that is interesting. I was not aware of that setting in Silhouette Studio. For sure I will try that out.
The Inkscape robomaster option (green) may also distort your path.
Compared with both options off (black).
