    Hello,

I make motives for cutters and cartstock with Inkscape. Some are big (680 mm x 720 mm).

I start with trace bitmap. I have to correct it. There are to many knots and some lines are not correct drawn. When I stop correcting and close the PC, for example in the left bottom corner with 213%, Inkscape starting with 546 % somewhere on right side. When I have a small motive, there is no problem to find the end of the last stop. But when I have a big motive, I became angry.

After sending the file to the plotter, it start at the zero point auf the motive, jump to a nother point, cut something, jump, cut something half and so one. By big motives it use a lot of time and it could be that the cardstock move to the wrong side.

It dos not matter which OS ( WIN 7, 10, Ubuntu 16.x, Knoppix 9.x), Inkscape version (0.9, 1.x) or cutter (Brother CM, Vevor, new Refine) I use.

    How can I stop it?

I wrote the same in the German part too. ( https://inkscape.org/forums/Deutsch/wie-kann-ich-das-springen-wahrend-des-zeichnens-und-ausschneiden-mit-einem-schneidplotter-verhindern/ )

I have more than 100 files, here are two. The rest I get problem with copyright, when I show them.

The last stop was singed in the middle of a screen / window with the zoom-in parameter. No toolbar was open. The problem only seen, when I work with the file. When I only open it, use the courser, zoom in or out, save and close, the problem is not seen.

In the portrait-file perhaps are only 5 or 6 knots left deleting and some lines has corrected.

The landscape-file I know is a bad file. But it shows, that I can´t find a system where the problem is. And it is because of the copyright.

The black line has to many knots left, but the fill is ok. The green line is the other way round. I did not know why I get problem with the area of the fill.

Both I start with trace a bitmap from a jpg-file. The jpg-files I scanned out of books and magazines. I hope the files can only read from person log in.

I have removed the files, in my understanding that they are being used without permission from the copyright holder.

I encourage you to find artwork that is free licensed "open clipart" and similar. Using without permission is stealing.

As a clue for your jumping issue, I'd try menu: Path>Break apart, then try the menu: Extension>Arrange>Restack.

For the landscape problem, I'd try menu: View>Split Mode>Split to see the issue.

Thanks for answer. I will try and tell what has happen.

The motives are out of handcraft books. I also an voluntary youth worker and offer free paper handcraft courses in public room. Therefor I am aloud to scan and use the pictures when I tell, where I get them from. But I am not aloud to spend the template in the web or sell them.

The landscape problem I solved by make a new frame and delete the old one. I split the big path before and join the single with the path of the new frame.
The problem with jumping of the window during open it, I stop by edit > preferences > window management > window
But it seems to be that there is a different between open PDF- or SVG-File or save and close PDF- or SVG-File. Certainly I had not tested every settings to see which is the best for the project.
The jumping by cutting at the machine I stop by splitting the big path, change the order of the single path and join them again to a big / one path, as told by Moini in the German part of the forum.
Your clue I had not try at the moment, because I have problem with the translation. I do not know every German meaning of the English settings.
    Thanks for help.

The clue with Path>Break apart, then try the menu: Extension>Arrange>Restack helps. Before I use the extension I open Layer or Object → Layer and Object …. Here I find all paths which I can sort by hand.
