Trace bitmap stopped working. Someone in another forum told me to install the latest inkscape. The first day, it worked fine. Now nothing is working right. I struggled for days with things that were simple for me before. Import PDF or SNG either by opening or drag and drop. Trace bitmap. Path to Object. I can now get to the final step...GCode tools. I make orientation points, but when I get to gcode path, it tells me the directory does not exist. It does. Can someone please tell me what to do? How can I get my gcodes from Inkscape? I'm so frustrated and ready to give up.
This is my first post. I have the Feb 2022 version of Inkscape downloaded last week. I am trying to load gcode onto my PC so that I can export it to grbl(Candle) to a controller for a Genmitsu 4030 CNC machine (2D)
I have been able to generate a .ngc extension in Path to Gcode/preferences but I am stuck sending it to anywhere (like desktop) as when applying it warns the directory doesn't exist (regardless of which directory I nominate that does exist. I have reset preferences as advised but it made no difference. I am completely a beginner in this field and wonder if there is some basic simple mistake I am making. It seems as though the Inkscape will happily transfer a .svg file but does not recognize the PC to take a .ngc file. Any suggestions would be most welcome

Try to reset Inkscape Preferences at Preferences->System->User Preferences=Reset Preferences and restart Inkscape.
Thank you Polygon!

If you are using Win 11 it can be that you have to give access to Inkscape folder in Windows Security .
Try to click on time down in right corner and see if there are any security warnings
Thanks Space67, I will give that a try.
I did find another post suggesting saving to a flash drive which did work but a bit messy compared to your solution.
Thanks for your help.
