I have this pic I'm working on that has a tree. I'm trying to copy it to a new layer, flip it vertically and darken it. To use this "darkened" copy as the tree shadow, But, it's complex with all the leaves. Advice ?

If the object is a path, I'd try Path>Simplify before scaling and skew. I might also try Path>outset to see if the small details are reduced.
