Beyond the Basics Two Layers, Bottom Layer Prints OK, Top Layer prints Pixelated

    Hi,

    I'm using Inkscape 1.0.1

    I made a file with 2 layers.

On screen, everything is sharp and OK.

But while printing, only the bottom layer prints sharp, while the top layer is pixelated like a BMP.

I tried the following options, with the same result:

    • Printing to a physical printer
    • Using Microsoft Print to PDF
    • Saving a copy as a PDF

In Print-rendering I ensure that 'Vector' is selected.

I am attaching the svg file and the generated PDF file.

Can anyone please suggest a solution ?

    Thank You !!

There is a filter applied to the layer TEXT, which is below the decimal value displayed in the GUI. (Looks like zero.)

I removed the filter using the Objects dialog and saved a copy for you to test (see attached).

Please describe your OS & version, the version of Inkscape and the installer you used, plus any special hardware like tablet/stylus or multiple monitors.

    Thank you, Tyler !!

My Inkscape version is 1.0.1, on Windows 10, intel i5 with 8GB RAM

May I bother you with some queries?

    1. I selected all objects with CTRL-A and selected 'Filters-> Remove Filters', but that didn't  work. Why?
    2. What was the filter ?
    3. How exactly did you find this filter ?
    4. How did the filter get added to the layer (on its own, it seems) ?

Thank you for your patience !!

    No problemo...

    1. Inkscape's Layers dialog (panel) does not allow the layer itself to be selected, nor does it have have a control for blur. (The Objects dialog does.)
    2. The filter was a simple blur, but it was so little magnitude that it rounded to 0.0 in the display.
    3. Inkscape's XML editor shows the document at the code level where elements hidden by the GUI can be seen.
    4. I'm not sure how it the filter came about.  I've seen similar issues.

Which installer was used? (.exe, .msi or zip)

    Hi,

I used the MSI version. Does it make a difference ?

Point 4 suggests a (minor) bug in the Inkscape code, I guess.

    Thank you again :-) !!
