Beyond the Basics Trace Bitmap - Multiple Scans - Colors leaves an alpha channel when tracing photographs

    Hello -
This may be a question which has been answered, but I could not find it in search. I apologize if it has been addressed.  I will post a very short version of my question, in case it is already known, if not, I have a longer description of my issue.

I noticed when when doing a trace with bitmap/multiple scans/colors on a photograph, it leaves an alpha transparant channel which does not end up being a path. It produces paths for the number of colors I specify, but always adds an alpha. When I go to cut each path on a lino block, there is no block for the alpha, hence the background paper color will show through. It does it with the "remove background" checked or not checked. Does not do it on simpler images with very few colors.

    Thanks in advance!

Have you tried the "Stack" option?

Hello! Thank you for the quick reply. Sorry it took me long to thank you. Yes I did try the "stack" option, and while it did get rid of the transparent "holes", it also adds layers of color to each path, I suppose that is how it does close the holes. But then the paths are no longer one color, and I can't use them for my laser  cutter. I will keep looking for ideas and let you know if I find anything. In the meantime, I am using Gimp to export the images in index mode with the number of colors I need, and can then isolate each color and export it in black .png to use in my cutter software. Thanks!
