Busy designing, and wanted to add text, this is what I get everytime. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling inkscape, I have checked all the settings and nothing untoward. Stroke set, no fill. Tried various fonts, all the same result, unsure how to proceed. The word typed is ADULT....not what you may think, its an adult size hat pattern !😊

Seems there´s a stroke (a dashed line perhaps) applied to that text. Select and delete.
