I have upgraded to Inkscape 1.0 and run into a problem I cannot solve. I started a plot and, initially when I added text, everything was normal. However, after a while, anytime I went to enter text, it would be displayed as outline only. With the text selected, I could open the Fill and Stroke dialog box, then click on the Fill tab and click the fill box. That resulted in normal text, but I have to do this every time I enter new text. I could re-install Inkscape which should solve the problem. However, what happened today, could happen again.
I tried to fix it by selecting Text and Font from the Text menu, selecting a font, a size, and with the Fill and Stroke box open at the same time, click the fill box in the Fill tab. I then clicked Apply in the Text and Font box, then Set as Default. This set the font and size I specified, but did not solve the outline only issue. There must be a solution to this and I sure would like to know what it is.
The Text tool (and other tools) can have their style set in the preferences. For quick access, double click on any tool to open the preferences for the tool.
