I've been using the previous version for a long while. Recently though time to download the updated program. Now running 1.1.
When adding text to an existing text field, the box doesn't increase to accommodate the additional text length. Further, the program three times has frozen and closed over it. It was working fine. But suddenly the above happens. screen shot:
As you see it is applied and yet not change and at any moment the system will freeze and close. Its done it three times now. I'll add the error message to the question when it comes up again. Its a simple project, so not sure what might be the issue. Anyone else experiencing this issue? Win 10 / all updates.
Hiya Tyler, I might have had a corrupt text box that was getting copied over. No idea why, but I did finally delete the text boxes that kept resulting in the error and freeze up. I sure can upload the svg file, at this point I don't know if you can reproduce it again. If you still want, let me know.
@dkgoodwin, The text boxes not expanding is to be expected... like the previous "flowed text", these "text in a shape" objects will only indicate when overflow text is encountered by turning the rectangle red.
As for the crashes, I cannot even speculate. I would proceed and note the exact steps taken prior to a crash... if the crash can be repeated reliably, it can have a better chance of resolution.
[Text > Flow into Frame] confines text inside a shape and any text that overflows that boundary is not rendered. Expanding text frames is a regular request in the forum and I'm pleased to offer this workaround. https://inkscape.org/forums/tutorials/dynamic-text-frame/
@TylerDurden thank you too. Had several more crashes. Sometimes it is crashing when I have one of these boxes fail, So I delete the existing box and copy over one of the existing boxes that did accept a larger text stream. And as I am modifying the direction of the text. It freezes and I get that same error and it will close. Here is the latest crash. I count 8 at this point. I've redone a few of the areas some three times due to crashing. I've taken to copying sections of four at a time into another file so I don't loose them with the next crash. I am doing the same as you trying to figure out what is causing it. I do appreciate all of your thoughts on the issue.
I've used Inkscape for a long while and appreciate it very much. Never seen this kind of crash, so thought best to let you know in case others are running into it. Other than this issue, the new version is terrific much quicker to use.

Attaching the .svg file.
I'd update to the latest version (1.1.1) first.
is this not it? - Inkscape 1.1.1 (3bf5ae0d25, 2021-09-20)
Ok thanks. You said 1.1 in the first post not 1.1.1. All good.

Tried that all it did was increase the size of the font, didn't pull in the non rendered text. Thanks though, I appreciate your thinking on it.
