I wanted to bring this up here and ask if anyone knew what was going on because I'd be unable to write an effective bug report if it even is a bug. It happens completely randomly, even within the same file, and I have absolutely no idea how to trigger it. Very frequently, Inkscape seems to stop rendering(?) corners on strokes. The cut-of corners show up in the export, and the only way I can get rid of them is to convert the afflicted strokes into a shape. Sometimes (but not always), a handle appears that seems to change the bounds of the cut, but never fully return them to normal. I'm including a copy of a file with the effect on in, as well as a screenshot in case it doesn't appear off of my computer. This problem first appeared in version 1.0.0 to my knowledge and has persisted into 1.0.1.
It doesn’t matter what stroke attributes I change it to. Both of the diamonds in that file have the exact same settings. I know for sure that this is not a me issue because it’s one in a handful of bugs that seemingly happen at random that I don’t know how to trigger.
A Gaussian Blur filter applied to the layer (Top) is causing this. Make sure your default template does not have a layer with this filter applied to it.
Can we find an explanation for how the program is randomly applying blur to my layers without me doing it then? Seems like this was a symptom and not the root issue here.
Alright, I've done my best to set a new default, so I'll see if it helps. Have no idea how that happened because I didn't even know that was a feature. Been using it for years. Thank you all!

Screenshot- http://prntscr.com/valjgl (See how it only affects one of two duplicate strokes.)

The default.svg that opens as a new document may have been saved as a custom default with the filter accidentally applied.
A template such as default.px can be opened, customized and saved as a new default without the filter on layer 1.

I posted the issue here: https://gitlab.com/inkscape/inbox/-/issues/4196 and they said that there is a change for the filter area in the works. You may have accidentally added blur due to a scroll wheel issue they have fixed in git: https://gitlab.com/inkscape/inbox/-/issues/4197
