Please, I installed Inkscape 1.3 (Wonderful!)
The problem is that when using the pen tool, with spiro activated, a straight line is first drawn, and this is projected a certain distance, before starting with the desired curved line.
I use this mode of the pen tool a lot, and I am surprised with this difficulty in this new version.
I use it on linux, and I attach a screenshot of how the tool worked for me before installing version 1.3.
I tried to use version 1.2 again, but it seems that the configuration from version 1.3 was overwritten somehow and I get the same error in version 1.2.
I have used Inkscape since its version 0.46 and this error had never occurred to me. I clarify that I am not a technical user.
I use Inkscape for design, but never or hardly ever change the settings of the software.
If anyone has any idea what's going on, I'd appreciate it if you could help me.
Thank you!
Looks like a bug. I'm seeing the same behaviour. The Pen tool in Spiro curve mode should draw smooth nodes but now the second node is a cusp node. You can correct this using the node tool.
I was investigating and there is nothing about it, and from what I see if it is an error, since it does not correspond to the correct behavior of that tool in inkscape, according to the official documentation.
I managed to use version 1.2 again.
I did this by deleting the preferences.xml file in my user's .congif/inkscape folder on ubuntu. :)
I hope they can fix this bug at some point, since version 1.3 made me fall in love with its new features.
I will report the bug later.
Thank you.
Before proceeding further, I'd try resetting the preferences. https://inkscape.org/forums/questions/getting-back-to-square-one-and-starting-over-its-easy/

Hovering over the first node (turns red) after the third click makes it smooth again here.
