I'm trying to split a path at a specific node. Not between two nodes, but at exactly one node. So the node where I split the path should become the end point of one path and the starting point of the new path. Unfortunately, I can't find a way to do this. Is this possible?
With the node tool selected, highlight the node where you wish to break the path (just dragging the mouse over it will do it). Now, look up at the Node toolbar (it should probably be the toolbar immediately above the canvas, but below the New / Open etc icons). The fourth tool from the left will break the path. If you hover over it, it says 'Break path at selected nodes'. Click that and this will break the path... HOWEVER... although your stroke is now broken into two, Inkscape still sees it as one object. You need to break it apart in order to move/colour/etc the individual strokes. You can do this with Shift + Ctrl + K, or go to the menu Path / Break Apart. Once you've done that, you will have two entirely separate objects.

Hi, welcome to the forum.

Hope that helps! :)
I must have been blind, sorry. I thought I'd tried every option on the toolbar.
Thank you very much for your quick response.
You're welcome! :)
