(First ever Post)... I have .svg images of 'Involute Gears'. (2D only. Many sizes & teeth). The Inkscape representations look great!, but the sides of the Teeth appear 'Curved', due to the number of 'Nodes'. I'm aware of the 'Simplify Nodes' options, but that just makes everything even 'more' rounded. I am exporting the 'Points-Data' to specialized software eventually, in the form of 'JSON' data that's needed. My 'need' is to Simplify the shapes, with less nodes, but 'maintain' straight lines between remaining Nodes.... If that makes sense!! 😎

As I recall, all involute gears have curved teeth.
Here: Render->Gear->Gear all nodes are corner nodes - no curves applied.
