Beyond the Basics set mouse to drag on "right click and hold"

    Hi,

currently I can drag by "shift+right click and hold", whereas "right click (and hold)" just brings up the right click context menu. Is there a way to set the "right click and hold" (without pressing  "shift")  to "drag"? This would bring inkscape in line with miro.com (where there isn't any option to change keyboard etc) and thus keep my controls consistent across the two apps. Thanks!

I can´t find any setting for movement with RMB-click+drag only as this have been always reserved for context-menu system-wide and all apps I know off. I use MMB-click+drag all the time - no modifier key necessary.

ok thanks, I think this is a weird thing miro.com did because they were getting errors with press scroll wheel to drag (there's no way to change this in miro.com), looks like I'll have to use shift+RMB in inkscape to keep my workflows as close as is possible at this point. thanks anyway!

If I understand, the searched behavior isn't to drag objects in canvas, but to move canvas view around objects. In the second case, you can obtain this by holding space bar + just moving mouse (no click at all).
I also use mouse scroll to move canvas vertically, and shift + scroll to move horizontally.

Well - he don´t wants to use a modifier key from what I read.

thanks, yes I've used space+move to drag, I was happily using "press mouse wheel" but then I started using miro.com for online teaching and although it has the same functionality (yaaay!) it didn't work properly (boooo), and then I got used to the miro.com hold-RMB to drag, and now coming back to inkscape I keep trying to use that new habit....grrr this is basically a problem with miro.com, I may send a bug report....

I had this issue and ended up reinstalling Win10 last week so not sure what the trigger is.
If I left-click or right-click and drag anything, the icon doesn't respond for 1 sec.
The mouse cursor moves fine, with no lag.
For example, Click test I left-click and drag a desktop folder a few spots over and release. the mouse cursor clicks on the folder, the cursor moves over. and about 1 second from when I left clicked, the folder will appear where I released it.
If I left-click the folder, drag it over, but hold left click, then the folder will appear under the cursor and I can move it around like normal.
If I right-click and drag a folder and release it takes about 1 sec for the context menu to show up.
Just right-clicking brings up the context menu instantly.
This isn't restricted to the desktop. This is an icon, in any folder. Drag/drop to the same folder, different folders, or even across drives, it makes no difference.
