Beyond the Basics Resize Canvas does not help

When I set the canvas to fit the content, the preview in mac does not match with what I see in inkscape. When I open the svg in a browser or another program, the canvas shown in the mac preview is applied (instead of the one set in inkscape).

    What am I doing wrong?

Have you saved the file after resizing the page?

Yeah sure. This is happening with all of my files ...

Not sure - but don´t make sense and has more to do with macOS rendering and Quicklook capabilities. It seems limited to an DIN size aspect ratio. How does Safari renders the file or previewing via spacebar?

So I have investigated a bit more. Opening the svgs in a browser yields the same scale as shown in the mac preview. Hence I dont think its related to Mac. When taking a look into the xml of the svg, one can see that the canvas size is set correctly. But I am wondering why there exists coordinates within path definitions that go beyond the set canvas size. Maybe the problem is related to the units used or a wrong scaling factor. However, I have set both in the document properties. But I am not an expert regarding the svg format.

Interestingly the preview under linux works correctly. Nonetheless, opening the svgs there in a browser as well reveals the same problem...

JFTR, the "Canvas" is the infinite area for working in Inkscape, the "Page" is the defined area that is exported and displayed.
