I am trying to install version 92.4 onto a flash drive and get it to run successfully.
I am using Windows 10 and am repeatedly getting the same error ... on older flash drives and brand new ones.
The version I am hoping to install is from a 7z file from the main website
The graphic below shares all the details.
By the way, there are no other Inkscape versions on these flash drives and plenty of free space on these flash drives.
Also, there is no malware nor viruses on my system. And. I have rebooted my computer several times and tried all this from scratch. Same problem. I have even downloaded the 7z file repeatedly from the main site and still get an error.
Perhaps I am trying to use the wrong installation.package. But I do not think so.
Can you please review the graphic below and share with me any recommendations?
... onto a flash drive ... about 2 hours ago, earlier than your post.
I find it only exists as a 32 bit package. I have a 64 bit. That 32 bit version does indeed work but it is much feebler and will not run some user made extensions that did work previously on a 64 bit 92.4 version I used on my laptop.
My main goal was to maintain a 92.4 windows version because of this. I currently have a 1.22 version and 1.3 alpha version on my laptop but cannot get any version of 92.4 to work (not from a 7z package, nor msi package, nor the exe package).
That is why I had hoped that a version on a flash drive could be successfully installed and used. But so far it is not.
The user based extensions I like accesible do not work on the 1.22 and 1.3 alpha versions. And I do not want to uninstall these two versions, install 92.4 afresh and afterwards re-install 1.22 and 1.3 alpha versions.
I appreciate your suggestion and wonder if anyone else has possible solutions.
Here are the 2 main user made extensions I would like accessible on 92.4 version. Again, previously, on my laptop with 64 bit 92.4 version (Windows 10) they each ran beautifully and are truly useful for different purposes.
They are Bezier Envelope and Paste Length.See the attached files. Thank you for whatever you can provide.
No such extension folder existed on my portable apps file structure. I manually added it and placed the desired inx And py files within it. Then, when I launched the portable Inkscape app, it did an automatic re-install on it's own. After a few attempts, I got those extensions to work. Success!
Thank you very much, Aero.
I will use this portable app install now when using version 92.4.

To avoid old versions overwriting the preferences in %appdata%\inkscape I'd use the portable version instead of 7z.

Thanks Aero. I did install the portable version

Could you be more specific about your user made extensions?
Sure, Aero.

Works here (Windows 11)
Extensions placed in D:\PortableApps\InkscapePortable_0924\Data\settings\extensions
Thank you.
