Any suggestions for printing a large image over several sheets - like A2 on 2x2 A4 sheets? This used to be called tiling or poster-printing, and Word used to do it - but no longer it seems. Anyone know an app that can do this naturally?
I need it for some largish notices, quality is non-critical, I only have an A4 printer.
I can export to any appropriate image format. I don't really want to cut the images into several sub-images and print them individually.
Kind of a hack, but works here: Go document properties and change page size to your printer size=A4. Grab the page tool and add 3 pages - now arrange the pages with snapping to built an A2 containing your whole drawing. Inkscape will now print your drawing (minus page borders when printing on a laser printer) on 4 pages.
Thanks polygon, that seems nice and intuitive! I didn't know that Inkscape could even have multiple pages in a workspace.
I have just loaded a Mac app called SplitPrint that seems to work fine, good for protest posters and demo signs it seems! But it uses the InkSpace output image as a separate step.
OK I loaded 1.2 and it runs OK with a Page tool at the bottom of the LH menu.
1.2 runs OK on M1 MacBook with Ventura, usable although not wholly supported due to the GTK issue.
The GTK problem affects me mainly when selecting from dropdowns like Font selection; selection mouse clicks are not acted upon (although the dropdown menu closes!). I just use cursor controls and the Enter key. There may be other issues but it's OK for now. Hopefully this gets fixed: here is a quote from the Apple Support forum: <quote> "An even better option would be to take some action on the open source side. As I said, I did manage to track down that one bug report. From the looks of the kinds of patches they are working on, they don't seem to be on the right track. Create an account there and tell them that they shouldn't use the "addTrackingRect:owner:userData:assumeInside:" method. They should switch to tracking areas instead. That's your best bet. <end quote >
