Beyond the Basics keep linked svg vectorial in final output

I very much appreciate the new "Import/Link the svg file" feature, which makes life so much easier.

However, it is a pity that the linked svg becomes a bitmap when exporting as pdf. it would be extremely helpful if it could (optionally) be vectorial instead.

We use the linked svg feature for multipanel scientific figures, in which each panel forms a separate svg. The new linked svg feature allows us to work on each subpanel independently while bringing them all together in the main figure. This is great, but those subpanels becoming bitmaps at the end is frustrating.

If it were possible to embed the svgs at the end before saving as pdf, this would already form a perfect solution. Currently, however, the Extensions/Images/Embed images... extension embeds the svg as a bitmap, thus not resolving the problem (unlike when initially including the file as editable object instead of linking the file).

I would like to request this as a new feature. Moreover, if there is currently any (indirect) way to achieve this, I would very much like to know.

    Thanks in advance!

Hi athanasius, this isn't the correct place for making feature requests. Please post your request at https://inkscape.org/report instead.
