Beyond the Basics Is there a way to "expand" a pattern fill, i.e. convert it to an object?

I often make my own patterns as objects, and use the Path>Intersection tool, and essentially cookie cutter the shapes to be patterned. With the latest version of Inkscape, I noticed the new Patterns & Fills tools, --love them, BTW--, but I have --historically-- run into a problem when I share the file, with a non-Inkscaper, or in the past when I would open up an svg. in Illustrator, created in Inkscape, or vice versa- the patterns would not display in the non-native editor. I found I could avoid this with my own "patterns as objects" method in Inkscape, and in Adobe Illustrator, I could "Expand" (Transform>Expand?) the pattern (aft ungrouping) and the pattern was then an object that could be viewed in Inkscape or any other vector program. Is there a way to do the same with the preset pattern fills in Inkscape?

    Thank you! Thank you!

I have posted a link to your topic here: https://inkscape.org/forums/competitions/inkscape-challenge-1-february-2024-31-february-2024/#c67805

Hopefully, some clever forum members will chime in.

Please make a feature request for this idea. It would be useful to people who use plotters/cutting machines, too. It could use clones, right? And if you don't need clones, you can convert them to paths again. Otherwise the file would become huge. https://inkscape.org/report

Heh was pining for this right at the end of https://inkscape.org/forums/beyond/grid-alignment-issues-when-converting-from-svg-to-pdf/#c67781, that would really help simpify construction while maximizing compatibility

Thank you all for the comments and suggestions! I may suggest it as a feature option.
