Every time I try to use the text function I get the error message inkscape encountered an internal error and will now close, please does anyone know a fix because I am unable to get any work done, thank you
Microsoft Windows 10 Home, 10.0.19041 Build 19041, Inkscape version 1.0 I'm not very good with this type of stuff so forgive me if I get it wrong, i downloaded the 64 bit version directly from there website

Standard font packs shouldn't cause full application crashes and loss of work. There is a bug here that needs fixing.
Real workaround:
Opening a new file and importing the old one works around the problem.
There is some kind of file cache getting corrupted after cycling through too many fonts. Opening other files or starting a new file won't crash in the same way. Importing seems to sidestep the issue.
I think I'm having the same problem, Inkscape is constantly crashing about every 10-15 minutes. Have most recent version of Inkscape on Windows 11 64 bit. It is a crochet symbol font that I have imported (this is the only font I have imported into Inkscape) and I'm doing a lot of copy- paste in order to create a crochet chart. Opening a new file and importing the previous iteration does not resolve the problem, it will still end up crashing. Ideally I would not want to have to create a new text box for every symbol as I need to to do a lot of resizing and skewing of the symbols.

Describe your OS & version, the version of Inkscape and the installer you used, plus any special hardware like tablet/stylus or multiple monitors.

These kind of crashes are usually due to a wacky colored font or having hundreds of fonts installed.
Are you using the Text tool controls, or the Text/Font dialog panel?
Are you dragging the text tool to make a box to type in, or just clicking once and typing.
Please describe in great detail each action you make before the crash.
