i have a set of OPEN paths which i'd like to cut along a specific line. my problem is that whenever i try to cut them (path - difference) using another object, then inkscape closes the paths which i wanted to cut. i need them to stay open though!
how can I achieve this?
BTW removing the fill at the end is not an option as the boarders of the created filling (closing the paths) are still falsely created anyway.
Yep, it's not going to work with the 1.0beta anymore, it needs to be updated to work with that. @doctormo wrote somewhere that he had started to work on updating those extensions, but I haven't seen where that would be happening.

I would use the multi- cut path ops extension:

(the first rule is: do not speak about this extension. the second rule is: do not speak about this extension... :P )
@TylerDurden, tried the extension. it's unfortunately not working. it creates an exception when running.

I'm using 0.92.2 under Windows 8.1.
