Hi, Noteworthy. This is a known issue with Inkscape 1.1 and has been reported on different operating systems. One of the bug reports is 5429. Perhaps you want to see that. Meanwhile, try making sure the Caps Lock is not enabled while doing your other Inkscape activity. Hopefully, this will be fixed in version 1.2.

Hello,
I have updated inkscape to the latest 1.1
But my beloved function keys do not work with the application. (They work as intended outside inkscape)
Since I use the function keys a great deal, my work has slowed down considerably using the mouse to switch between tools.
If any of you has this problem and found a solution or can suggest one, I would be very grateful.

Okay. I found the solution to my problem and I am reproduing it here just in case someone else has the same issue with the new installation;
This is what I did:
Edit > Preferences > Interface > Keyboard. If the Keyboard file shows Inkscape default (default.xml), then select Inkscape default (Inkscape.xml).
And voila the I have full use of the function keys again!
