Beyond the Basics From paths to a quilting stencil

I created a compass rose drawing in Inkscape that I would like to turn into a quilting stencil. In order for the file to be usable by my Brother Scan 'N Cut, I need to turn all the solid lines into broken lines like as in the attached example.

    How do I do this?

I think that´s better asked here: https://inkscape.org/forums/embroidery/ and might ping @Kaalleen.

Not sure if there´s an add on for that. LPE Knot can do this:

Otherwise manually it´s double-clicking to introduce new nodes and "delete segment between selected nodes".

Thanks you very much for you answer.

I'm aware of the Inkstitch extension, but this has very little to do with it. I just need to be able to manually transfer the elements onto the fabric before quilting. The file will be a simple SVG, and won't be transfered to an embroidery machine.

But the example you've posted is quite exactly (minus the central circle) what I need. How did you do it?

I use Inscape in french. Is LPE Knot the equivalent of Effets de chemin - Entrelacs ?

I believe that´s the one. Check this icon out:

I think that in the last versions of inkscape, you can type in the search field of LPE's panel the english name of the LPE, despite interface is in french.

You're both right: the search on Knots returns Entrelacs in french.

But I didn't find much on the web about this function. I guess I'll have to play with the different parameters to understand better what I can do with them.
