Hi - I have a macbook pro 2.3 GHz, 8GB memory running macOS 10.15.3 and Inkscape 1.0 beta. Since updating to Catalina/Inkscape 1.0, Inkscape frequently hangs. I also have an iMac running same software that does not hang. So, since updating the software, my workaround has been to do all my graphics work on the desktop. Today, I forced myself to use the laptop again. What I've noticed is that things are fine (albeit, a bit more slow than the old pre-Catalina/Inkscape 0.92) until I bring up another window and then try to re-focus back on Inkscape. I.e, if I'm working in Inkscape then pull up an email and try to go back to Inkscape, Inkscape will be in "not responding" mode. I tried to be patient - like, go have lunch - but inkscape seems to stay hung.
I'm posting this in hopes that someone else may have noticed this behavior and has a workaround (other than save/exit before bringing up a browser or email). If not, please let me know how I can collect more information for those who might be interested in debugging this problem. I have no experience in debugging inkscape so I don't know where to start.
To me (not a Mac user) this sounds like something developers would want to hear about (if they don't already know about it). This page tells how to make a bug report: https://inkscape.org/contribute/report-bugs/ Maybe wait for a Mac user to reply, and they can tell you if any other info might be needed.
Thanks for the pointer, Brynn. It really didn't make any sense to me that I was seeing this on one machine and not the other - and that I could reproduce it so consistenly and no one else was complaining about it. So, I uninstalled and reinstalled and the behavior went away. So, I think we can call this a false alarm.
