Thanks for the quick reply. I should have mentioned that I did first convert the circle to a Path. That doesn't solve the issue unfortunately.
I’m thinking the issue is caused by the difference in the way Inkscape 1.X handles built in extensions than previous versions. All the extensions worked for me using v.95.
I’ve followed some online instructions about making changes to .py and .inx files. I’m not a programmer though so I’m sure I messed that up. In the end I did a clean install of v1.1.1 and still have the same issue.
Thanks again for the quick reply. Reset preferences didn't work. I added all the extensions from mightyscape and tried to use one of them but the same error occurred. I've done another clean install of Inkscape 1.1.1.
Here's what I do in case you can try to replicate the error:
Create a circle
Convert it to a path
With the circle selected I select:
I click apply from the Add Nodes pop up:
And get this:
Clicking OK closes the pop up box and returns me to the Add Nodes pop up box. Nothing happens to the circle. No Nodes were added. If I click Apply again, the process starts over.
Is my system is missing something? Is there another program that needs to be installed to make Inkscape recognize extensions (a Python execute program of some sort)? What's weird is that some extensions (Jitter Nodes for example) work.
It doesn't help that I'm not a programmer. Again, I appreciate your assistance. Thank you!
The pot shot worked! More details for those with the same issue...
I downloaded the .msi install package from the Inkscape download website (I run Windows 10 64 bit)
I uninstalled Inkscape
Did a file search and backed up all remnants of Inkscape manually to a temp folder. Then I deleted remnant files. The Inkscape folder remained on the hard drive despite the uninstall so I deleted that. There were also some Windows remnants of Inkscape in my Users folder that I deleted as well.
Did another files search and found nothing Inkscape related (except my back up remnant files which by being relocated to a temp folder would not interfere with a clean install of Inkscape).
Shut down and rebooted my computer
Installed Inkscape using the .msi install package
Opened Inkscape
Created a circle
Changed it to path of 4 nodes
Ran the Add Nodes Extension to create 18 segments
DID NOT get an error pop up :-)
And ended with this:
Everyone, thank you so much. I really appreciate your help. Now I can get back to using Inkscape again. Yay!
Greetings,
Can I get help in solving why I get this pop up when I try to apply the add nodes extension in Inkscape 1.1.1?
I'm using Windows 10 64 bit and have done a clean install of Inkscape 1.1.1.
This error occurs for about half the other extensions as well. I've searched and tried to fix this for hours so I really appreciate your help. Thanks!
You need to convert the circle with Path->Object to path first.

Regarding compatibility you might want to check out: https://github.com/vmario89/mightyscape-1.X
I´d first try to go Inkscape->Preferences->System->Reset Preferences and restart Inkscape though.

Not sure if this counts for Windows - but have you shut down PC wait a minute and start it again (no simple reboot) after clean install?
What does status bar at the bottom of the Inkscape window tells about your circle?
Does your Inkscape/lib folder look like this? Please post a screenshot.
Looks like it it does:
When I try to apply 20 segments from this menu:
edit: I get the same error pop window when I click apply. After I click okay on the error pop up window...
The circle is unchanged:
Which installer file did you download (exe, msi, zip)?
exe
And thanks again for your continued help. It's very much appreciated! Happy New year!
I'd try uninstalling Inkscape, downloading the .msi installer and installing that. (Just a pot-shot, really... what's to lose?)

Excellent!
Thanks for the thorough description... we can now let the developers know there has been an issue.
