I am trying to use a plugin that is not working on the current version (1.2). However, I have been told that it works in 1.1. How would I go about downgrading my version? Is there anything I need to do to avoid messing everything up or is it as simple as freshly installing 1.1?
If you download the standalone version -zip file- on windows, you don't need to uninstall anything, it will run after unzipping and double clicking the inkscape.exe file in the bin folder.
By uninstalling you may lose your custom templates, gradients etc. if you didn't save them in the roaming folder in windows but the inkscape folder in the program files.

Before rolling ack I'd try resetting the preferences.https://inkscape.org/forums/questions/getting-back-to-square-one-and-starting-over-its-easy/
To roll back, I'd uninstall Inscape, install the earlier version, and reset the preferences.

If you had any of those in the first place.
