I'd like to start by saying that I do love Inkscape. It's my favorite art program, head & shoulders above any other.
I've got a problem with Inkscape v0.92.4 (5da689c313, 2019-01-14). I have this installed in Linux Antix v19.3 (upgraded), after downloading it from the Antix repository. The machine is a Dell Precision M6300, with a 17" display. It's native resolution is 1920x1200. I've used arandr to reset the resolution to 1440x900. (In the super high res, the cursor becomes almost invisibly tiny in LibreOffice Writer, and the text is too small to read.)
The problem I'm having, is that the dialog box for the text editing has developed a glitch in its display. The box maximized itself vertically without any action from me to make it do so. (It didn't maximize horizontally.) The bottom edge for manually resizing the box is inaccessible, being off-screen. When I click on text to edit, the dialog box resizes itself vertically, pushing both its top & bottom edges farther off screen. The top goes far enough that the entire title bar & box controls (minimize, maximize, & close) are off-screen. The bottom goes far enough that its control buttons for "Apply" & "Close" are also off-screen - inaccessible.
Note: I've experimented with resetting the screen resolution back to the native 1920x1200, and the resizing problem still exists in that mode. Opening the dialog box is initially maximized vertically, with top & bottom edges accessible - and can't be made smaller by dragging top or bottom edges. Increasing the size of the font from 40 to 80 expanded the preview area, and pushed the vertical edges of the dialog box, with associated controls, off-screen. At that point, changes to the text can't be applied, and the dialog box can't be closed. The vertical edges do NOT return to being on-screen, if I change the font size back. The point of this paragraph, is that the problems with the dialog box are NOT related to my use of arandr to change screen resolution.
In either resolution, once the top & bottom edges of the dialogue box disappear off the edge of the screen, the only escape is to close the Inkscape window entirely.
This is a fatal flaw, and it prevents me from continuing to use Inkscape.

Have you tried the latest version of Inkscape?
Have you tried another Debian-based distro?
If it was working before, why the change?
